My rescue lab with pics

Rescuegal08 Jun 13, 2007 04:28 PM

Hi, I'm new here and just got an 8 year old black lab girl from the humane society a few months ago. She is an absolute sweetie! One thing; whenever we see someone new they ask what she is! She looks exactly like a purebred lab to me, but she only weighs 40 lbs and is about 18 inches tall. Who cares! She is absolutely perfect to me.

You know, I thought that 8 year olds were supposed to be calm and easygoing. Apparently Lipsey didn't get the memo! (She came with that name). She is the most energetic dog I have ever had! She would probably fetch herself to death if I didn't stop her! She is also amazingly well trained; when I got her she already knew sit, stay, down and was working on heeling. I took her to an obedience class specializing in therapy dogs, but it looks like she may be too hyper for it! She won't jump or anything, but I think she could break an old person's leg with her tail! I just feel like the only way to calm her down around new people is to break her spirit, and nothing is worth that. So, she probably won't be a therapy dog. Oh well.

Anyway, just wanted to share this sweetie with you guys. Go labs! (I am officially a convert thanks to her!)

This one is the day after she came home; in 1 month she lost 8 lbs just with regular exercise! (2 daily walks/fetch in the backyard)

perhaps a different kind of therapy dog work might be more suitable. Maybe something to do w/ kids?

Lipsey is a great looking dog! She looks exactly like a dog that runs on the golf course I play on and she is about the same size and has the same boundless energy. She too is real sweetie!

Cool. Does that lab have an owner, or is it a stray? I have yet to see a lab that doesn't have boundless energy. I can't even imagine that!

Thanks! Rescued dogs are the best! Bentley looks really sweet; Lipsey thinks she is a lightweight too.
