Urinating on my bed!!!

ellasmommie Jun 13, 2007 09:22 PM

I have a 2 year old long hair Chihuahua who seems to have taken to urinating on my bed for the last week or so. I wasn't sure at first if it was him, or one of my cats... but once noticing that the cats were out in the livingroom or out on the balcony and finding yet ANOTHER wet spot on my bed... I am now assuming that it's the dog.

He doesn't seem to be sick... no fever, eating normally, otherwise acting normally... except for the urinating on my bed!

What can I do to stop this??? He's slept in my bed with me since he was a little puppy, and this was never an issue until about a week or so ago.

I don't know what to do. I hate the thoght of closing him out of my room... but right now, that's the only thing I can think of.

Any advice would be great.

Thank you!

Has the dog has been checked out for any health reason? When you clean the spot use something like Natures Miracle. You can find all different type item to kill the scent at pet stores.

Has anything changed in your household? New person, new dog or cat. Might just be marking their space in your bed.

Just my thoughts

A few things to think of or look at. First off is the dog intact? Have you had a urinalysis done recently? Have you noticed with the summer temps, the dog is drinking more? Have you done bloodwork recently?

Between increased drinking with summer heat to kidney issues related to recalled foods this can be many things. I would suggest taking pup into vet. Just because things LOOK ok, doesn't mean they always are.

Another thing, is he playing harder with the nice weather? I have caught my pup twice now falling into such a deep sleep he dribbles before waking to run to the door.

If he is intact, he may be having some leakage issue or he may be spraying related to intact female. My experience with intact male dogs is very limited, but with cats I know marking is a major issue.,

All things to consider!
