chi size

Kristilee Jun 15, 2007 10:48 PM

beans my chi is almost 1 yr. old now and is only 2 - 2 1/2 pounds. i was not expecting her to be so that small, i was actually not looking for a teacup or whatever she would be classified as. what are the weights of all the different sizes of chihuahuas ( teacup, mini, standard, etc.). is 2 lbs. normal or okay?

Technically there is only one standard size Chi according to the AKC standard. http://www.akc.org/breeds/chihuahua/index.cfm

To the best of my knowledge there is no such thing as a mini or a teacup Chi, just smaller or large of the same breed.

I bet your little one is a sweetheart. Got any pictures you can post?

The other sizes are mostly made up by Breeders to sell more pups.
