Looking for some information and assistance in learning about the Border Terrier for a friend who will soon be choosing a breed as a companion dog. She saw Borders a a dog show we attended recently and was attracted by them.

I have Pharaoh Hounds and lots of years of living with hound breeds and am assisting her in making a choice. This search is in early stages. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Nile

I have a Border Terrier and a friend of mine has three. Neither of us breed. I did try showing my Lacey, but to friendly and love the judges to much. Wiggling about and kissing the judge is not good. LOL Obedience school never hurts with any dog. I brought her because I wanted the breed, just tried showing for fun.

They can be very active but near as hyper as some other terrier breeds. They are loving and sweet. She gets along great with my mixed terrier and my Ridgeback and yup three cats. They are sturdy dogs and love kids. Grooming you will need to learn to do, mostly because most groomers will not take the time to do them. That nice short coat you see when they are in shows is groomed that way. Their coat gets to be 2 or 3 inches long with a rough shaggy look.

Go to a local dog show and check them out closer with a breeder/handler.

I love my Lacey and wouldn't trade her for the world.
