Potential Eskie Owner

Hi everyone. I've been doing research on lots of different dog breeds for a while now. I've sort of narrowed it down to just a handful of breeds I think I would be compatible with, and the American Eskimo Dog is one of them!

However, in the hopes that I could be a great parent to whatever dog I choose, I have some questions to ask of you breeders.

1. How does this dog do in off-leash dog parks? I heard it can be taught obedience quite easily.

2. I am a fairly dominant owner looking to get a female dog. Would I be more compatible with the male or female?

3. I hear this dog can bark excessively. Does anyone have any experience teaching your dog to only bark when it needs to?

4. What is your experience with other people and other dogs? I plan to socialize my dog from a puppy, so hopefully this won't be an issue.

5. What do you guys generally do to suffice the dog's need for exercise? What would you recommend for somebody that works?

6. Is there any specific training methods that seem to work better than others for this breed?

6. I am looking to find a reputable breeder in WA state. I have found a handful of breeders, but don't really know which ones are good or not. Does anyone have any suggestions? There are a lot of breeders in my state! I would be happy with either the standard or miniature breeds (no toys please).

I would rank myself slightly above a novice dog owner, as I currently have a terrier who is fairly well behaved. However, this is the family's dog, and I am looking for a dog of my own (as I will be moving out of my parent's house soon). This will be my companion and best friend, and I need to make the right choice!

I don't have an American Eskimo and so cannot answer your questions, but I did want to welcome you to the boards and say that I hope you get some helpful responses.

Also, I noticed a number of typos in my original post. Please ignore those, I was tired
