Congrats on your new Sibe! They are great looking dogs. For the food issue for now I would feed him what he was being fed before you adopted him then buy your new food and gradually make a switch over by slowly adding a more of the new food into the old food until the changeover is complete. This will help with any digestive issues that may occur. Buy a good quality dog food... stay away from the supermarket brands. I feed my Shiba's Wellness Simple Solution... mainly due to my female Shiba having allergies. Any of the higher end premium foods will be acceptable. Same with treats... only the higher end.

I agree, the Wellness food is amazing. I started feeding it to my huskies just a little while ago and they LOVE it and it's all natural!

Invest in a good "raking" brush for the times of the year when the blow their coat. Also a lot of chew toys! Those little jaws need exercise and it'll keep him occupied!

As far as food, if you choose to use dryfood only use the best brands from a specialty petfood supplier. Nothing that you can buy from supermarkets, walmart, kmart, petsmart, etc, nothing from chain petstores, its all cheap.
I personally feed raw only to mine and would never ever go back to dogfood, to me its like subjecting your child to processed cereal only for food and nothing else. Even my cat eats half raw, my wife buys an expensive dryfood for part of his diet also.
Huskies are fun, I hope you love exercise, they need it all of the time. It doesnt matter if its freezing cold, snowing, or raining, and if its windy they seem to like it more.
Good luck huskies are great.

Congratulations! I hope you enjoy each other to the fullest!

I've got my dogs on Canidae All Life Stages. It's a higher end food, and all of my dogs love it. Their coats are beautiful, their energy levels are up, and I can feed them less of Canidae than the Pedigree they were on before, which they didn't really like.

Definitely buy some chew toys like Kongs, maybe something you can hide treats in. Better yet, if you can make treats that you put in the Kong and then freeze, your Sibe will adore you, and it will keep him busy for quite some time!

NEVER, EVER let him run off-leash! Sibes will run and keep running, then look around, realize they have no idea how to get home, and latch on to the first friendly face that says "Here, puppy", and unless you are very lucky, you have lost your dog.

I hope these tips help a bit. Good luck!
