Last night I was feeding my satanics and watched them for about an hour. They tend to sleep and hang out mostly on one plant in the corner of the tank, probably because of all the stems they can hang from.
Anyways, my male made a leap about half way across the tank to grab a cricket. On his way back to the plant he came pretty much face to face with my female. He stood there and then his tail raised straight up and curled towards the front a bit, think scorpian. He then proceeded to wiggle the stubby little tip while waving his tail from side to side.
Im just curious as whether this is a mating thing, a threat display, something to do with dominance, or perhaps a defense mechanism so that a predator would go for the tail instead of the gecko? Although I can really see what the male would view the female as a predator, the other three are possible explanations.
Anyone experienced this or know what it might be? Just curious.
