Maia's in Heat- A Question

Maia2007 Aug 14, 2007 08:41 PM

I had Maia scheduled to be spayed next month. Since she is a miniature American Eskimo I thought she wouldn't go into heat until a year old. She was 9 months old last week and today I noticed she is swollen and beginning to spot.

I am arranging a large pen for her when she goes outside as our yard is unfenced. My question is how long do you think she needs to be penned when outside? When she completes the heat cycle I will schedule to have her spayed.

Thanks for any help you can give. Looking on the internet it said it can be anywhere from 14 to 28 days. Just need to know a little more accuracy to schedule her spaying and know when she can go outside without being penned.

Sorry that was a picture when she was a puppy. Have a new one but didn't know how to post it as couldn't find the browse for image.

I can't help much with the heat question but I think on average it could be anywhere around the 3 week mark.

As for posting pictures, that is relatively easy here. Bening a registered member you have access to a free 10mb Photo Account here at the DogHobbyist. Click on Photo Gallery at the top of the page, register and then scroll to the Members Gallery, I don't the Eskie has it's own section. After doing that follow these instructions I use for posting on the Shiba Inu forum, just substituting where I have Shiba Inu when needed.
Any questions please ask... can't wait to see a growing up Maia.
At the top of the page, Click on Photo Gallery
Scroll down to Shiba Inu. Click.
Find where it says Upload Photo.
If you haven't Logged In you will have to do so first.
Click on Upload Photo.
When the page opens...where it says Choose a category
be sure it says Shiba Inu.
Click on Browse. Find your photo in the dialogue box and click open.
There is also a link to upload multiple pictures if you choose to do so.
Enter a Title for your photo.
Click Upload/Submit.
Do this proceedure for all your photos, you have 10mb of free storage here.
Now go back to the shiba forum. Enter your post as normal, scroll down below the text box to where it says Select Image from Photo Gallery. Use the drop down arrow to find the photo you would like to post, and click on the photo.
You can also hold down your CTRL key and highlite up to three photos to place in a post.
If you would like to title your photos or place a little story about them you can do so easily by copying the URL that is at the bottom of each uploaded picture. To find the url, click to enlarge the picture and you will find the url below the photo. Just copy any or all Urls into Notepad or something similar. When posting pictures using the URL's you will need to add [ IMG ] and [ /IMG ] before and after the url. Please note there should be no spaces in the brackets, that was just for posting purposes.
I would use the Preview feature to be sure your picture(s) loads, once done just click on Post Message.
Please post any questions if you run into difficulty, everyone here can help you out.

Thank you for the info on how to post Maia's picture. I had forgotten how I did it here before. She is 9 months now and weighs in at 13 pounds. Don't think she will get too much bigger but believes she is a big dog.lol A true lovebug and afraid of nothing.

Glad the info worked for you. Maia is one heck of a little cutie! Eskies are very cool dogs!
