Frantic screaming followed by urination

jjeffreys Aug 19, 2007 09:16 PM

I'm hoping someone can help. I'll likely be back at the vet's in a few days if this persists. Started over a month ago with a thyroid problem. Initially on 2 pills a day but then reduced to 1/2 pill twice a day. Then her skin started to flake and gobs of hair fell out in the bath. Took her back in and ran blood and urine. Vet gave her omega-3 oil and said thyroid looked ok but there were crystals in urine and that I needed to run another urine test. Didn't have a chance to take her but two days later she came in the house frantically and loudly crying squatted under the kitchen table and peed. Calmed her down then took her outside. She started screaming again so I took her to the emergency. They took an x-ray and no stones or crystals. Urine looked ok too but gave her antibiotics in case she has a bladder infection. 3 days have gone by and she's still screaming followed by urination. She pees ok in the a.m. but later in the day is when it happens.

I don't think I would wait any longer to get your girl back to the vet. It sounds like she needs a complete examination. My first thought was a UTI but it seems the antibiotics would take care of that.
