Smelly face

littlebluegnoll Aug 26, 2007 01:53 PM

Hi,

I am taking care of a healthy pekingese puppy that was going to be euthanised because the owners did not want to pay for all her expenses. I can't keep her and right now I'm trying to find a home for her. She's cute but her face smells really bad. She will smell fine right after a bath but about 30 mins. later she smells again. I've tried using alcohol and Hydrogen Peroxide to wipe around her face and then dry her really well but that will only take care of the smell tempoarily. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Sarah

Hi Sara and welcome to the DogHobbyist. It is to bad you can't keep the Peke as you sound like you would make a wonderful dog owner. I don't own a Pekingese but I think the problem you have has to do with the folds in the skin around her face. It might be easier for a vet to do this but I'm thinking she may have a skin or yeast infection in the folds. There could be a variety of reasons for the cause but one may be if she has runny eyes and the fluid is getting into those folds.

Is there there a chance it could be dogs teeth?
