A few minor? problems with new puppy

babykahne Sep 02, 2007 04:37 PM

We just found out today that my 9 week old puppy has roundworms. We saw holistic methods of treatment that said using the fresh hulls of black walnuts can work. Luckily we have a black walnut tree in our backyard, so we've started giving him a homemade extract using the hulls. I was wondering if there are any other holistic treatments that you know of that may help. (We are also giving him a homemade garlic extract).

Another thing we noticed after taking him outside just now is that he has a sore on his upper right lip. It's a bump with a yellow colored wet looking scab over it. We're not sure if he got stung or if our other dog possibly bit him. (He's not used to other dogs in the house, so we're trying to get them to get along with each other, and thus far the dog runs away from the puppy and is afraid of him)

Also, on his left hind leg is a patch where he pulled the hair out. It's not scabbed or inflamed. It scabbed over when we first noticed it, but we think he pulled the scab off and it doesn't look like the hair is growing back. What could have caused this and is his hair going to grow back?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Rachel

Wormwood is another option, along with the black walnut and garlic. As to the scab on the lip and the raw spot on the leg, while they will probably be fine in the long run, and the hair will grow back, it is advisable to have a vet look at them to determine what is going on.
