In 2004 we moved our 2 dogs, Fred and KnottHead, from the US to England. Once here, Fred began deficating in one of the rooms. We denied him access to the room, and it stopped. Then the alpha dog, KnottHead, passed away. Fred began to urinate large puddles in the living room. After 2 months of investigation, it was determined that he has nephrogenic diabetes insipidus. We changed his food and it seems to have helped tremendously. However, he still uses the bathroom in the house 1 - 2x a week. He was housebroken and use to have the run of the house. We are now forced to keep him in the kitchen and living room area with dog pads. He is good about going on the pads, however, we would like him to go back to being housebroken. He gets walked for 30mins - 2 hours every day; is let out multiple times in the morning and evening; and has a semi-regular eating schedule. Is this part of the diabetes, or is it a behavioural problem?
