Peeing on kitchen floor

abukuchick Sep 17, 2007 03:59 PM

I have 2 one year old chihuahua brothers who have always had good bathroom habits. They are pee pad trained and I take them outside whenever I can. They've missed the pads by accident (by the angle they stand or when they were puppies) but other than that they have never gone anywhere else.

A week and a half ago Andre got stung by a bee and was covered with hives, so he is now on Prednisone (which we are weaning him off of) and antibiotics. Everything has been fine otherwise until last night when he peed on the bathroom floor! I didn't catch him at it but assumed it was him since he didn't tinkle before hand and his brother did. Then just now I caught him peeing on the kitchen floor (there are pads in the living room, not more than 20 feet away)!

Does anyone know why he would do this all of a sudden? I thought maybe his meds were making him feel cruddy and he didn't know how to show it, but why just last night and today? He had a normal tinkle outside this morning, one on the pads late morning and didn't want to pee outside this afternoon, then he goes on the floor two hours later! I'm at a loss of what to do, and I'm worried about taking him out more often because of the bee's in the yard and not wanting him to be stung again while he's still recovering. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

If the initial accident wasn't cleaned up 100% with an enzyme cleaner, there will always be a draw to go to taht spot again. Also, my guess is your dogs are getting a bit older and there might be some marking going on in the house that you have not been noticing. Get a black light and check for spots. You may be surprised what you find.
