I'm a US citizen working in Taiwan. Well, after having adopted three street dogs I've run across an organization here trying to control the stray dog population. Over here, it's very unique.

Dogs pretty much live outside. They live in parks, on the streets, and around outside restaurants. Some have even learned to live in downtown Taipei, and will cross the street when the lights turn green, and that at the intersections.

Yet the organization, called www.animalstaiwan.org, doesn't seem to be making an impact. Is this just a no-brainer, something that requires legal action for owners, OR CAN SOMETHING REALLY BE DONE?

Taiwan's not such a huge country. Dog's are somewhat revered here too, from a Buddhist standpoint. I hate to see some of the things I've seen, so would like to say, this organization needs help.

Like I'd said, THIS IS QUITE A UNIQUE PROBLEM COMPARED TO OTHER STRAY DOG RESCUE EFFORTS ELSEWHERE. Dog's can live outside year round here, are fed by the public no matter they're strays; some live in parks forming packs, others, although unleashed, someone owns but the dogs can go to and fro.

The only solution this organization has is to spay and neuter all street dogs, then try to get them adopted. But it's not working.
