Lhaso Apso Puppy

dawnbrian37 Sep 19, 2007 03:14 AM

Hi,
Can anyone help, I have a 13 week old Lhaso Apso who continually barks when he is not in the same room as us. He doesn't bark just once it is constant barking. Really starting to get annoying now, I've tried spraying him with water but he likes it and it doesn't deter him from barking. Has anyone any helpful tips or suggestions please?

Hi,
Puppies love to play and he most likely had a litter of puppies to play with. Now, all of a sudden he's by himself and looking for playmates. Provide him with toys that he finds interesting and challenging...perhaps a toy with smaller toys within it that he has to get out by batting it around. You will be surprised how quickly they catch on to these toys and learn what to do with them. My Shih Tzu is twelve years old and she still loves to play with her toys...thank goodness. Pick toys that are fitting for his size. Never give him a toy with small parts that he may swallow. Stuffed toys are fun for them as well....they love to toss them around. One of my Katie's favorite toys was her bed. She just loved to move that around the house. Sometimes it looked like the bed was moving itself across the room. LOL

Lhasas are very, very, people friendly dogs. Very. That is why so many people love them. I have two. My question to you is simple? Why does the puppy have to be in another room. My dogs are with me all day, every day I am home. They are always in the same room with me. Why not? Go get your puppy, and bring him in with you! He just wants to be part of the family!

Wait until the puppy is quiet--even a few seconds at first--before you go to him. And make sure you are not leaving him alone too much. Dogs were not made to be alone.
