How nice of you all to help the not as fortunate dogs that do not have forever homes yet.
Thanks,
Cheryl
Great pictures of Duke and Koda. Sounds like a very nice event.

If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went.
Love that full contact wrestling that only a spitz breed is capable of doing so well!
My dog Taiko wrestles with a 10 year old husky named Nala as a reward after some of his agility runs. The two are wild and we've had people wonder if they were going to kill each other- nope- it's all fun. They are just wild, loud, and full contact and havign a blast together. Fun stuff.

A primative dog breed plays and fights so roughly compared to modern breeds. Simple, these are highly pack oriented dogs that have had nature evolve them into a design that works for survival, they were not designed as modern breeds have been, by humans.
Primative dogs are more social, and they know that a pack is the most important thing to their survival. They playfight, and play so rough because to them it is normal communication, it is the way they prevent serious fights from happening.
Ever notice that when someone is so strict on their dogs, and does not let them have this important playing behavior, their dogs do not know how to handle a social situation with other dogs, they either cower and are afraid, or they attack seriously, many times they will attack, but this is their owners fault for neglecting them of needed socialization (but I dont like it when he shows his teeth, or growls, or bites, or nips) too many people anthropomorphasize dogs, they are not humans, but many people cant get that throught their heads).
There is a great article on this subject in a newsletter about sled dogs I found.
Its no wonder natures design of dogs resemble wolves so much.
I'll have to look for that article. It sounds like something I'd really enjoy reading. I hadn't really given it much thought as to why they are so rough in their play, I just knew it was normal for them and it's so fun to watch them have that much fun together.
