New here.. meet Rush!

Hi! I have had shih tzus growing up but I'm living by myself (besides my two cats) in my fourth year of college so I have adopted a dog from the shelter. I've had him since June and he's already my best friend. He's my first big dog (besides an Akita we had when I was little) so training has been a new experience for me. Luckily Rush is really smart and always aiming to please so he has been pretty easy to train. I got him when he was about 6 months old and prior to me adopting him he was neglected. He has come a long way since then but has a bit of seperation anxiety. But he's generally a very happy dog.

I'm actually really curious if anyone can tell me what kind of dog he is? I always get really mixed opinions. I personally think he has at least three different breeds in him. I've gotten people saying golden, lab, shepherd, pit bull, etc. Anyone here have any idea?

People always stop me on the street to ask what kind of dog he is. He looks like a "generic brown dog" but that somehow makes him stand out.

I included some link to pictures of him. The funny thing about him is that generally, one ear sticks up and the other is down unless something has his attention. The tip of his tail is black, and then white. His tummy has a little white on it, he has a bit of white on his chest, and his tongue isn't black. At full size he's maybe around 60lbs.

When I first got him:

Tough to tell from the picture exactly what type of mix your dog is. I do see German Shepherd in him though. Maybe some boxer as well, but the picture is showing up dark. No one will be able to answer your question with 100% certainty. Even if someone witnessed the breeding to tell you the pair involved, litters can have multiple fathers as well.

Enjoy your new best friend and keep up the training. Smart dogs are such a joy to work iwth- especially if they are willing to please on top of it!

I'd say lab/shelty, he looks like he's got a shelty type nose, and that would give him those ears.

Well I don't really know but my guess would be German Shepard and lab or maybe a Welsh Corgie?

Pretty dog!

Hi and welcome to the DogHobbyist! Rush is a great looking dog. I'm thinking along the lines he may be a Shephard/Lab mix... I'm saying this based on the ears and I can see some Lab in the face.
