Brand new Dachshund/Lab mix

srm4402 Oct 03, 2007 11:42 AM

We just picked up our new puppy who was advertised as a dachshund lab mix. Much to our surprise we were informed upon pick up that the female was the lab and the male was the dachshund. I am posting to ask if anyone out there is familiar with this mix and may be able to answer some questions. Such as what might his approximate full grown size be. also to share any pictures of their Dachsador. Hope to hear from you soon.

Genetics are crazy things- you could get a dog as large as a lab or as small as a doxy. The same goes with the temperament- it could be very lab like or the other end of the spectrum.

From my experience with mixes, they tend to fall somewhere in the middle of everything, if one of the breeds is large and the other very small, you get a medium sized dog. If one breed is prone to barking, and the other not at all, you get a moderate barker.

Overall, you have a great companion that should be smart and for the most part very willing to please you. Enjoy your new pup and post pictures when you are able.

I have no idea what that might turn out to look like. I would love to see pictures. My Hubby had a Boxer, Pug mix and they all came out looking like pugs.

Thank goodness the Lab was the female!! I don't know what the dogs will look like but sure would like to see a couple of pictures.
