bump on the muzzle

juliana Oct 09, 2007 12:12 AM

hi all,

my boy had this small raw patch on his muzzle last week, and within a couple days it got bigger (the size of a 25 cent coin). The muzzle was also swollen, and the wound area has a bump, and when it dried we got a scab there. The vet said that it looks like bug bite induced benign tumor, that the bump should go away on its own without leaving a scar, but it may take weeks. We got animax (steroid?) ointment and antibiotic pills for him from the vet. Now the muzzle isn't swollen anymore, except for the bump that's still there, and the dry scab. The skin where the scab came off is pink. It's been approx a week now since he got it. I think it doesn't bother him.

Has anybody run across this problem before? I do hope that he will recover quickly (the e-collar is depressing), and I hope the fur in that area will grow back. Anxious for result..

cheers,
juliana

While i havent had the problem myself, it sounds like you are on the right path to a healthy recovery. And dogs are just so very pitiful with that E-collar, playing up for the maximum sympathy.

Hang in there!
