Deworming Meds.

PanzersMom Oct 14, 2007 02:05 PM

On Monday Panzer went to the vet for checkup and shots which he was in good health. Yesterday morning after his morning feeding I gave him his deworming med and a while after that he through up all his food. He was fine for his night time feeding but this morning after he ate (which wasnt all his food) he got sick again. Hes going to the bathroom, drinking and running around like a nut playing just fine so my question is, can it be the deworming meds that is making him sick? Can there be one of the things that he has an allergy to in them cuz this isnt the first time this happend after taking the deworming meds.

As we talked last night in chat, dogs can have sensitivity to certain deworming meds. It is always a good idea to have a fecal run first. Also look at what heartworm preventative you are currently using. Many deworm as well. In fact with Caesar that was how we learned he had roundworms!

I know more rural area vets (farm country vets) deworm on a regular basis, but the least amount of meds I can stick in my dogs the better as I have 2 dogs with allergies. I would say the same for Panzer who also has allergies.

With the dewormer you used on of the side effects of an overdose was in fact vomiting.
