Liver, Kidney and Heart Disease

colorfulcritters Oct 20, 2007 10:20 PM

The schnauzer I have doesn't have heartworm. I got her a test yesterday. The vet, however, couldn't determine whether or not she has liver or heart disease, although I'd told him to take a blood test. So right now this all speculative but I think it's pretty obvious what's wrong with a swollen liver and all.

She's vomitting too so the vet says she probably has kidney problems, as well as liver and heart disease. He said he'd heard some irregularities or another in her heart via the stethoscope.

Well, I don't know how to take this. Any advice? What can I do to help an aging dog that's got liver, kidney, and heart disease?

The vet said I have to take it to another hospital to get it fully treated. He also said I'd have to get another test, which he can administer, to determine how serious her condition is. Then, he said, if it's too serious medicine would not help.

But what sort of treatment, to be specific, does a dog suffering these illnesses need? Is it possible to help her? What would the costs be, the duration of treatment etc.?

I'm not the richest guy in the world right now.

From what you have written, I would guess that she has a liver and a heart problem. Give her milk thistle twice a day, along with Coenzyme Q10 and hawthorn. Unfortunately, I don't have a clear picture of what is going on, but these remedies should help to clear up the picture. Let's see how she is doing after 2 weeks on this protocol.
