What are the best ways to keep the dog house as warm and dry as possible? Its a plastic house that already has a rain flap, but I've tested it out on a cold day & its like a refigerator in there ::brrrrr:: How can I warm it up?
Thanks

I'm not a fan of these plastic dog houses as they offer little in the way of insulation to protect a dog. If it has to be used... get it up off of the ground to help with ventilation and keep the inside dry. Make sure the flap is in good working condition and away from the prevailing wind direction. Lastly get some fresh straw and heavily line the inside of the house to provide some measure of warmth for the dog to lie in. Change out the straw everyso often to keep it fresh. Place it in a spot where it can get some sunlight to provide some radiant heat. If the outside gets extremely cold in the winter it's best to bring the dog inside until the temperature is a little more manageable.

Bob
If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went.
Bob all great suggestions, especially bring dog in. If I may add, be sure dog has lots of unfrozen water. Dog can get dehydrated very easily in cold weather. Might want to increase the amount of dog food also. Frost bite can be a problem also.
