Please help me, I need indoor beginner habitat design for Russian Tortoise

blinkymac Oct 10, 2003 12:07 PM

I need help on how to set up a habitat design for a russian tort. This will be a family pet that lives indoors(we live in WI). I checked several sites but noone breaks it down to beginner terms, and they all seem geared more to the hobbyiest than just the pet owner. What type of food? lights? bedding? temps? can you pet them? We need a habitat compatible within the family home not one that takes over it. Someone please help us with a design. If your reply is to long please feel free to e-mail me at : blinkymac101@yahoo.com. Thankyou so much. I need ALL the basics!

Check out www.russiantortoise.org. There is a lot of information on how to properly care for your Russian Tortoise. When my RTs were indoors, I used a kid's play pool for their habitat. They will need a UVB bulb and a basking lamp. I used the Zoo Med Powersun bulb which provided both.
