Allergrys

PanzersMom Nov 17, 2007 03:06 PM

I have a 1 1/2 year old Shpeherd mix with bad allergys. Last winter I took chicken, corn and wheat from his diet but then summer came so I never really found out if it was those things or out door allergys. Back then he also had gotten a bad ear infection which the vet said he might have an allergy to lamb as well which is what he is on Canidae Lamb and Rice. All summer he licked at his feet, itched and has had a few hot spots mostly on his belly and on his chest. But now that fall has come it has gotten worse and this past week worse then its ever been. He was at the vet in Oct which he got his yearly shots but didnt know then that dogs with allergys shouldnt have yearly shots but the vet put him on 2 Benadryl twice a day but dosnt seem to help. Now Im thinking about putting him on Wellness Veison or Duck formula and cutting out all treats to see if his skin gets better what do you all think?

Thanks for the help

An adult dog should get no other shots than rabies once every 3 years, to obey the law. Take him off all commercial foods and give him only fresh meat, bones, flax seed oil or fish oil, and a probiotic. If there is no improvement, have his thyroid checked.
