EATING STOOL

TeamGenji Nov 20, 2007 09:00 AM

Hi Dr. Tobin,

One of our dogs, the oldest one is abpout 10 years old. For the past couple of years she eats her own stools only in winter time. I try to clean up every time she goes to bathroom in our backyard, but sometimes I miss it like when we have snow storm, and later on she finds them in snow and eats them. She doesn't do it at all in spring, summer and fall, only winter.

I feed all of our dogs raw food. Something must be missing in her diet.

If you are giving bones and fish oil along with the raw meat, you are feeding your dog a complete diet, but she may not be digesting or absorbing all the nutrients she needs. Try adding digestive enzymes to her food, to help her get more of the nutrients.
