Potential for therapy work...

beardielover13 Nov 26, 2007 05:21 PM

Currently, my springer is 9 years old (as of last month). She has yet to slow down much even though we did get her fixed. She loves people and other animals (her and my cat are best friends). My only problem is with her tugging slightly on the leash, but she has been getting better. I have wanted to get her into therapy work ever since I volunteered for the summer at an Adult Day Care where 2 Golden Retrievers came once a month to visit. I think it would be really fun. Does anyone have any suggestions about how I can get her trained more so she walks nicer on the leash?

It's important to get into a good training class, not only for leash walking, but for much more, including working around other dogs. The instructor will then likely be able to refer you to the closest testing group in your area.
