Have you checked with all the large insurance companies. I think most of them have a rider that you can add to your home owners insurance. If in your area Dobes are classified, by law, a "Vicious" dog, that can be a problem getting coverage. If they do have coverage from what I understand can be quite costly.

Not much help here, but I tried.

Check with State Farm. Here in FL they will provide coverage if you own a Doberman, and it isn't all that much more (compared to what others would try to slap you with).

As far as getting out and biting someone, a well trained, well socialized, healthy Dobe won't just go and bite someone. Ok, people get a little concerned when they see a 70-90 lb dog (regardless of breed) running towards them, but again a well socialized Dobe won't just bite. If a Dobe gets out, it's usually due to boredom, or if it's an unaltered male, there's probably a female is heat somewhere near.

We had a guy that works with the power company come through our back gate, uninvited and unannounced, and my female got him on the back of the leg. He called the cops and animal control. When I pointed out that our meter is on a pole OUTSIDE of my privacy fence, the man was charged with trespassing.

Do not use "Beware of Dog", "Guard Dog on Duty" or any signs like that, however, you can display "Doberman(s) At Play"

If you find a different Ins. Co. that charges a little more, aim for obedience and work towards the dogs Canine Good Citizenship and they might give you a bit of a break.

i found that farmers would insure any breed of dog without previous aggression documented. it was a good thing because there was only one other place that was willing to insure us and it would have been 1300 for the year and only covered up to 50,000. not worth it at all. with farmers i will be paying half that and get 300,000 in coverage. i in now way shape or form expect any dobi to just lose it and start attacking people, but with our screwed up legal system if someone jumps my fence to rob us and gets bit he will sue us and win! so i need good insurance. my hope is if someone jumps over with bad intentions.....there arent going to be jumping back out........if they get by the doberman, they have a lot more to worry about inside the house! thanks for everyones help!

I'm with you on the "beware of what's inside" thing!!!

We live in FL, and thanks to Jebbie Bush I have the right to defend myself if I feel threatened or in fear of my family's or my own safety!!!
