Remember puppies are forever, not just a toy under the Christmas tree. The link below is a great article on rethinking a pup for Christmas present.

Hi!
This is a excellent thought for people to think about before they give a puppy as a Christmas Gift or as a gift at any time. It is a huge responsibility and should not be treated lightly. I have found that many people, unknowingly, don't know what it means to raise a good balanced and social pup to an adult dog. That is why there are so many dogs in animal shelters today.

Gift givers and gift receivers should understand the role of leadership with the pup from the pup's perspective and not the human perspective. As I see it we must talk dog to dogs, they need confident and consistant leadership. People will enjoy their pets more when they understand that pups and dogs are not little people in fur coats!

It's easier to prevent pet issues that unknowingly lead to the development of bad behaviors then to change the bad behaviors after they have arrived on the scene.

Pet ownership is meant to be a lasting relationship full of love, fun, and companionship. Much learning in this area means much happiness with your pup or dog! It can all start off right with a good, positive name for your pup. Names are important and your pup will live up to it's name! So, make the pup's name one to live up to in a good way! You'll be glad you did!

To your successful pet relationship!
