Run Over By a Motorcycle

Or I should say "scooter." I'm in Taiwan, and the other night my little stray schnauzer crossed the road without me knowing. She rolled, flopped, and took off to the nearest corner. Now she has partial paralysis and I need to know if it's temporary or not.

The vet called it Ischium(?), gave her a shot, told me to give her some medicine, and said "It can be fixed." She can't walk on one leg, however, and is unsteady. I just hope it's not permanent.

She can stand now, but can't walk on all fours, So my question is, is there such a thing as partial paralysis? What's this called, in layman's terms?

Before you think I was neglectful, Taiwan's rife with scooters and my front door adjoins a speed strip for young kids. I'd just taken her back from getting groomed, too, and she usually doesn't wander when I place her by the door.

I'm sorry to hear that your dog was hit by a scooter. How awful. I don't know anything about paralysis in dogs, but I'm sure you'll get responses from those who do. In the meantime, I'm sending good thoughts your way.

I'm not so sure your dog is paralyzed or just in pain from having the broken bone. Can you rig up some sort of carrier to lift her hind end up so she can get around and not put pressure on the hip area? By saying it can be fixed... the vet was probably refering to some sort of surgery.

It's weird. She did not yelp or cry in pain. I lift her up by myself now. The vet said she doesn't need surgery either.

She can stand. But I don't understand such an injury. Thanks for your thoughts.

She's doing just about fine now, only limps a little.
