coat not growing back

wisema2297 Dec 20, 2007 08:48 PM

Our huskie gave birth to a litter of pups in September and of coaurse has long since weaned them all. Her coat has not come back in yet and she is looking a little scraggly. Her weight is good but is there anything we can do to assist her in getting her winter coat back soon. I've been giving her canned puppy food mixed with her adult dry food for about 2 weeks now. Is there anything else I can do or is it just hurry up and wait? Thanks.

My husky took a few months to grow back his fur where his IV was attached for surgery to neuter him. Our husky mix puppy was fixed at 6 weeks old, his fur took months and months to grow back.
Add brewers yeast tablets to your dogs diet to assist in growing the fur back faster, also to prevent the dry skin from itching so much and growing faster add fish oil.
Mine eat a raw diet so their fur grows a bit faster than those fed dogfood, it will come back sometime.

Have some bloodwork done, especially thorough thyroid testing. Pregnancy puts a dog's body through a lot, including sometimes causing the emergence of hypothyroidism.
