Hi and welcome to the DogHobbyist! Congrats on getting Jake... I bet he'll turn out to be a great dog. One thing to remember with Jake is that he is only 9 weeks old which is very young. Personally I wish pups weren't sold until they were at least 12 weeks old since the mother is still teaching them things. Since he is young and small, keep in mind his bladder is young and small too. At 9 weeks his muscles aren't strong enough yet to hold a full bladder and since the bladder is small it fills up quicker. Ideally instead of waiting until you see Jake sniffing around he should be taken outside at least every 2 hours to potty and especially after eating. He sounds like a smart dog and he'll get the hint soon enough. The same goes with wanting to be with you all of the time. I would recommend crate training him starting now to avert any potential seperation anxiety further down the road. You don't have to leave him the crate for long periods... just a few minutes at a time to start with and then gradually extend the time. Make it a happy place for him to be and he should readily accept it. Good Luck to you and please post updates on your progress.

Jake sounds like a great little pup! Beagles are cool little dogs. When you get a chance you'll have to post a picture or two... we would love to see the little stocking stuffer! lol
