possible cav anxiety ?

dalesm11 Jan 03, 2008 04:47 PM

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone had any good advice on how to deal with my 9 month tri cavalier. He has been a brilliant puppy to to train and have had no other problems with him. My partner and I work during the day I leave the house at 8 any my partner at 9, I finish at 5.30 and either walk him at lunch or my neighbour takes him out. He generally has the run of downstairs as he is well toilet trained however when we are out he has little mistakes in certain areas like behind the tv or on the table leg even though there is paper at the back door which sometimes he uses. This has only been the case for the last 2 months and more recently he has started to do it even when im in the shower or doing something else and he is downstairs. I take him on at least 3 walks a day sometimes four, he socialises with other dogs and he gets all the love, play and attention from my partner, I just cannot understand why he keeps doing these little accidents as sometimes in random areas. Im not sure if it is anxiety or seeking more attention?Does anyone have any tips on how to rid the scent?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

Dale.

I think there are two things going on here. First at 9 months your pup probably needs to go out more often during the day... not only to relieve himself but for a little excercise as well. Second the Cav isn't a breed that does well being left alone for extended periods of time and this may be the cause of the problem. They are true companion dogs. If it's possible you may want to hire the neighbor to stay with your pup or tend to him a little more often... or think about the possibility of getting another Cav to keep him company. As for the pee scent. many people have had success using Natures Miracle. It's important to let it set long enough to do the job. Good Luck.

Thankyou for your message. You said he might need to go out more and get some exercise, I can assure you he goes out alot and gets plenty of runs when I take him out, ok he gets a shorter walk when I take him at lunch but I believe the he has more than enough exercise for this not to be the main problem. We do really want another cav and would look to get one however Im still researching if this would be a good idea though it would be company but would I end up with two cavs with the same problem?. Can I get this product for the smell at any pet store or is it from another source?

I was reading the posts here and yes the Nature's Miracle can be bought at all pet stores, Petsmarts and PetCo's.
