how much blood is to much?

my new baby got his ears done today and he is bleeding some now but it seems to be getting very thick on his ear clotting up
i am just worried and want to make sure he (cerberus) is ok.....

we are new to the board thanks now for any help

You need to contact the veterinarian right away. Some Dobes have a bleeding condition.

he is ok now i did call the vet and he doesnt have vWD thank god i would have never took him to get his ears done. i couldnt take loseing him from bleeding out. but all is good i am taken him back to the vet this morning just to make sure all is well

I'm glad to see you are aware of vWD. If he has been tested through a blood sample, I would recommend getting him genetically tested with DNA swabs through VetGen also. Blood tests (in house vWF Allys Essay Test) can be inaccurate.

Did they keep the pup over night after his crop? I've always used baby socks on the back feet until the stitches come out (10-14 days). Tape around the top of the sock, and make a loop around the leg just to anchor it. Prevents pulled stitches and them irritating it by scratching. They'll hop around like a bunny for about 5 min until they get used to it, but.....worked great for all the ears we've had done.
