I'm finally done moving..

aisha Oct 10, 2003 01:17 PM

I just finished moving and it was sooo fun >:@. My boyfriend hit a deer with his car while moving the lizards. I was in the other car with my cats when it happened, fortunately no one was hurt. We just had some very upset lizard for awhile and a busted radiator. My boyfriend’s father also thought we didn't need to bring all of the cages and left two for the next load so when we got to our new apartment we were missing them. We had to make cardboard dividers until we could go back a couple days later (2 hour drive one way). The good news is we are only around half hour from Dayton and Columbus, Ohio so we have good access to reptile shows and have no plans on moving any time soon. So I'll be on kingsnake more now that I'm settled.

I am going to be moving in about 7 months (I know, no time soon, but I am still wondering) & I was thinking about how I am going to move my 3 big tanks, a free roaming ig & my 4 fish a 10-11 hour drive? Obviously I will have to make only 1 trip instead of a few, but the tanks barely fit in my car! Any tips/ comments?

I choose to put all of my lizards in deli cups then in a box so they didn't slide around. The aquariums I wrapped cardboard around. I also have fish and I used the fish bags from my local pet store and put them tightly fit into Styrofoam cooler. My store said that I could put packing peanuts around them so they didn't slide. If you do use those bags make sure you get a few extra because I had one start leaking half way there. I wish I could help you on fitting the cages better other then renting a U-Haul. I hope your move is accident free so watch the deers good luck.
