Bold Spot

TeamGenji Feb 20, 2008 04:48 PM

Hello Dr. Tobin,

One of our dogs, 8 months old, has a tiny bold spot a little bit above his left eye.

I noticed it two days ago, and I've been using Calendula tincure with warm salt water.

The spot is about 3 millimeters, and it hasn't gotten any bigger or worse. No bad smell, nothing comes out from the spot, it seems pretty clean, no lumpy. But it did bleed a very very little bit this morning when I was cleaning the spot.

The dog doesn't paw it at all, so it doesn't seem to be itchy. It could be a cut, I'm not sure. I live in Northeast and eveything out there has been pretty much frozen, and he was putting his whole face into frozen snow/ice the other day.

Is there anything else I should do? Thank you!

It sounds like a small wound, not infected. You said one of your dogs, so it is possible that 2 dogs were playing rough and this dog got a small bite or scratch, causing the hair to pull out with the scab as it healed. Or he may have scratched himself. As long as it is not getting larger, and not bothering him, just watch it and don't let it bother you.
