Wobbler Syndrome

kona63 Feb 25, 2008 07:09 PM

What can we do to help our 6 yr old Shiba with Wobbler Syndrome? We are elevating her food and water, using a chest harness for walks. Right now she is on Rymadle twice a day for about a week. We are going to be looking for a physical therapyst for her. Are we missing anything to help her? As it progress we will be looking at having an MRI done and then go from there. I understand there is no cure for it and even if she has surgery she may never be 100%. My wife and I want to do all we can for her to make sure she is comfortable as possible and has a good quality of life.

While Wobbler's Syndrome is fairly common in Dobermans, I haven't heard of it in Shiba Inus. Have you had this diagnosis confirmed by a second opinion? I would suggest having your dog see a veterinary chiropractor in any case. A listing of veterinary chiropractors, as well as other holistic veterinarians, can be found at AHVMA.org.

I am some what close to Cornell and I am going to see about taking her there for a 2nd opinion. I have a name and number for a vetrinary chiro in my area and will be taking her in there as well.
