I cant believe that people sell these mix breed dogs as decendants of the aboriginal dog that native Americans had.
The breeders pass of lies, scams, and excuses, if caught they blame the kennels that sold them their original dogs.
The foundation stock for the original recreations (proven by genetic testing recently), and tracking down the owners of the foundation animals, are proven to be coydogs, wolfdogs, and Siberian/malamute/GSD/collie mixes, etc.
These people say they recreated the original dogs by using the old ways, then they sell these mix breed dogs for thousands.
The worst part is that many many people fall for it, and defend the breeders.
Genetic testing in a study done on aboriginal dog breeds such as Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers, Tahltan dog mixes (pure talhtans have been extinct), NAIDs, Carolina dogs, and Inuit sled dogs (Canadian Eskimo dogs), proved that there is only one of these breeds still in existance, one Pre Columbian aboriginal dog, and it is the only one with pre Columbian North American genetics (pre Columbus), well 2 if you count the chihuahua (Aztec dog) this is the Inuit Sled dog, in fact it has its own subspecies name Canis Lupus familiaris borealis.
