papers to outside

megr18 Mar 02, 2008 10:42 AM

I am getting ready to start teaching my schnauzer to go potty outside instead of on the papers in a couple of weeks. I am interested in hearing what your alls experiences are with this and some of the things you did. Keeping in mind i will be gone for 7 hours everyday, should i take him to boarding or should he be okay?

I didn't paper train my dogs so I really can't help you out there unfortunately. Hopefully someone can come along and help you out.

As for being gone for 7 hours at a time- it's nice if you can have someone you trust take them out once during the day. Boarding isn't probably necessary, but one day a week would be nice to wear the pup out.

In my opinion 7 hrs is a long time, even for a grown dog. If you are thinking of doggy day care that would be nice. Most dogs like that and it tires them out. And as they say a tired dog is a good dog. Or if you can get a neighbor in a couple of times a day that would also work.
