Stores will usually have many different thickness' but I usually use 5/8 or 3/4 which full sheets usually cost in the neighborhood of $25.
thanks but do they have 1/2 in thick and how heavy do you think a 4x2x2 cage would be
Yes they do typically have that thickness, and I'm not sure it'd be strong enough without any braces or supports. But yes, it will still be quite heavy.
thanks i will go with 3/4 thik b/c im going to stack 3 4x2x2cages
Menars 1/2", 3/4" white and Oak colored melamine for around $10.00 per 8" x 23"w sheet, smaller lengths are availabe for less. I have 4'x 2' x 2' cages 1/2" thick melamine stacked three cages high using 2" x 4"s as dividers between cages, due to heat created by stacking. Sometimes stacking causes heat from lower cage to heat up bottom of cage on top. 3/4" thick melamine may cause diffuclty with sliding glass doors from weight.
