Hello and welcome to the DogHobbyist! Trying to decide on the just right puppy can be difficult and confusing. There are many active forums here for you to look at and read. Feel free to ask questions in any one of them. Good luck with your search and be sure to let us know when you get your new pup!

Hi right back to you. It's always nice to see new folks join us. Are you looking for a smaller dog or a larger one or doesn't it make any difference? If you don't have a breed in mind, it can be s a difficult choice to make. Perhaps you can read through some of the posts on the boards. It may help you make up your mind. I have a Shih Tzu. Perhaps you can come to the Shih Tzu Board and see if that might be a breed for you. We would be very happy to answer any of your questions.

Thanks for the welcome.

Something mid-sized, not a toy or Great Dane.

What characteristics would you like other than size? Activity level, grooming requirements? Shedding issues? Exercise needs? There are a lot of knowledgable people here- hopefully we can help in some capacity in your choice.

Chelle and the rest of the crew including, but not limited to Kita and Taiko (the shiba inu wrestle maniacs), Adi (reserved and dignified tabby cat), and all 28 reptiles

If you can schedule grooming visits with a good professional groomer, a Poodle would be a great choice--including the choice of Toy, Miniature or Standard (large size)!
