Idiopathic epilepsy

sheplove Mar 08, 2008 05:14 PM

My brother has a 3 yr old male German Shepherd, He started to have seizures beofore he was a year old. He is on potassium bromide and phenobarbitol. The night before last Kody came in and jumped on the couch he laied down for a few minutes, he jumped off the couch and laid on the floor, he got really stiff, his eyes were rolling in the back of his head, he was drooling. It didn't look like any of the seizures he ever had. He took him to the emergency vet clinic and the vet said that he was having a idiopathic episode. He wasn;t sure what this was, if it was dangerious or what else he could do, We have noticed that Kody can't be around other dogs, he goes in to a seziure when he is around other dogs. any help would be great.

I assume that bloodwork has already been done in the last 2 years and showed nothing. At this point I suggest you consult with a holistic veterinarian, who may be able to find a solution based on the dog's personality and characteristics as well as the signs and symptoms of the seizures themselves.
