How much is too much?

Black_Wolf Apr 02, 2008 10:01 PM

I have a puppy that'll turn 3 months on the 4th of April. she was born January 4,2008. I have always feed her 3 times a day: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I currently feed her 2 cups of Wellness puppy chow per meal( 6 cups a day). She eats it all then looks for more. I'm worries that she's going to fast from all her food. She weighs about 20 lbs right now, no lie. Is that pretty much normal for a large x giant breed dog? She's got Malamute, Shepperd, and wolf in her.
Going to the vet next week anyways...

The veterinarian is the one to advise you about how much to feed and the pup's weight. They eat a lot as they grow, but too much causes diarrhea, overweight, joint problems and other difficulties. That is one good function of the 3-4 puppy shot appointments. A good veterinarian does a check-up each time. Write down your questions and carry them with you to the veterinarian so he/she can answer them--and be ready to take notes on the answers, too!

KDD is right... you're veterinarian would best be able to tell you where your puppy should be weight wise in regards to her age. Just my opinion would be to stop the lunch feeding or slowly stop it by reducing the amount of food each day.
