What should I do to raise the humidity??

Luckiefool420 Oct 10, 2003 01:58 PM

I have just recently got my first snake. It's 25 inches long but i have no idea how much it wieghs. the tank it's in is a 36 (maybe 38, I can't remember) gallon tank. It has the same length and width as a 30 long but is 6 inches taller. I cannot seem to get the humidity above about 40%. I have tried diffent substrates, put the water dish on the warm side, i mist it with water through out the day, and have covered about half of the screen top with plastic wrap. What else can I do to raise the humidity? i think he is about to shed so I want to make sure it is nice and moist for him. any suggestions would be appriciated and thank you in advance.

I asked this same question once. What finally worked for me was to mist 1-2 times a day, I also partially covered the top of the tank with a wet towel (I wet in the am and pm), and I've also put a humid hide (damp moss in a rubbermaid container w/ hole in top) on the warm side. I use a glass tank so it's a bit harder for me to maintain humidity. Since doing all this my humidity never goes below 60% and usually is higher.
