Joint supplement

shaylyndog Apr 21, 2008 05:25 PM

Is there anything besides glucosamine that is good for older dogs, with long backs and short legs? I have a mixed breed, approx. 34 lbs, part doxie, basset and who knows what else. She jumps on the sofa to sleep but other than that is a pretty layed back type dog. I know their backs and knees are apt to be weak places and would like to give her something natural to help as she ages.

I have found Longlife Pet Supplement, with shark caartilage, to improve joint mobility even in cases where the dog has been getting glucosamine, chondroiten sulfate and MSM, as long as there is still some joint problem. The only times where I did not see improvement were in cases that were ultimately shown to be neurologic problems rather than joint problems. For your dog, I would suggest one capsule twice a day.
