male parti poodle

somelicious Apr 27, 2008 12:45 PM

Hello! My name is Melissa. I own two silver poodles, Belle who is 10 years old, and her puppy cowzer, who is now seven. Cowzer is a silver and white parti poodle. We are interested in studding him out since we know how rare parti poodles can be. This may be a shot in the dark but I was just curious if there is anyone that would be intersted in this. He is in good health, very fun and loving and gets along well with most other dogs. He has a great temperament and is a very loyal and obedient pup. anyone interested?

Parti Poodles are disqualified in the AKC show ring:

"Parti-colored dogs shall be disqualified. The coat of a parti-colored dog is not an even solid color at the skin but is of two or more colors."

Maybe that's why they seem "rare." They're really not. Better to just love and enjoy the dog, not breed it.

This forum is not intended to advertize stud services.

I'm sure your dog is very handsome and nice, but there are a whole lot of other things that need to be checked out before a dog should be bred. Has his eyes been checked and does he have CERF papers? How about OFA Hips? How about patellas? Is there a history of allergies in his lines? What's his show career like? He probably can't be shown AKC with a disqualifying color, but how does his structure conform to standard? Does he have a history of many ear infections? How about thyroid issues running in his lines?

It's nice to have a great companion dog, but sometimes they really should remain companions and not stud dogs.
