ER visits galore!

Well, I have an English bully who is the unluckiest bully around...

Meet Big Bertha:

It all started with her first vaccinations after we already paid $150 for her vet checkup and purchased her for $2200 a week before. She had an allergic reaction and almost passed away. My wife and I rushed her to the Animal ER around midnight. She was given steroids and stayed overnight for observation. Price: $400

Recently (less than a year has passed), Big Bertha was involved in a disagreement with my other bully over who owned the last chew. Their battles usually involve lots of growling and wrestling with their mouths open...never any biting. Freakishly, my other bully's tooth snagged on Bertha's poor, wrinkled mug and nearly sliced her bottom eyelid completely off. Back to the ER. She needed surgery to repair and stitch her wound (thankfully, the tissue has blood flow and she doesn't need reconstructive surgery). Another overnight stay with special considerations because she is a bully. Special considerations = $520

A few days pass by and her eye is infected. Her oral antibiotics are not enough. Back to the ER for topical antibiotics. Price: $45

A couple of years of vacations gone, but Bertha is recovering beautifully.

Watching her pudgy body running around in the yard and petting her wrinkled head:

$ priceless

Does anyone else have unlucky Bully stories?

Welcome to the Bulldog forum! Like my post in the Doxie forum I don't have a Bulldog but I can surely sympathize with you on taking dogs to the vet. Big Bertha looks like she is adjusting to her cone. What is the prognosis on the eye? I liked the ending for your story... I think all dogs are priceless!

Big Bertha's eye is healing beautifully. It looks like the stitches are dissolving and with the vet's OK, I'll be able to remove the E-collar.

Thanks for the response...
