Introduction

Hi everyone. I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Amber. I'm new to this board, but not new to the site, dogs, or APBT.

I work for the local Animal Shelter, as an Investigative Officer. I have two dogs of my own, a cocker spaniel and a pekingese (currently), and a bird. I have owned "bully breeds" in the past - and am obviously around them pretty much daily as well.

On top of working for the shelter, I also volunteer doing foster care. A few months ago, I had an APBT/Am. Bulldog puppy, Jester, that I fostered, until he could go into rescue. I currently am fostering two 8-10 week old APBT puppies. They don't have names yet, but we're working on that LOL.

In my city, we don't have breed bans, but unfortunatly we do have an ordinance that doesn't allow the shelter to adopt out "pit bulls, rottweilers, or a mix of those". We try to get as many of those into a licensed rescue group as possible. It really bothers me that they can't be adopted out because of stereotypes and paranoia from uneducated people.

Anyway, I wanted to introduce myself.

Hi Amber! Welcome to the APBT board. I don't have any myself but the ones I have met have made wonderful pets. I think it's great what you are doing at the shelter and I'll keep my fingers crossed that you find all of the little pups either a rescue to go to or new forever homes.

Welcome to the boards! And bless you for the work that you are doing. It really bothers me too that some shelters consider Pit Bulls, Rotties, etc. as unadoptable and kill them. Definitely not fair. I have a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and a Bullmastiff. My Staffy Bull is the friendliest, sweetest dog you could ever want to meet. (The Bullmastiff is nice too).
