Blanket Attachment

Hey Dobe Lovers!

I have a 10 month old Male, black and tan. He is such a great dog, but I do have a couple of concerns. (1) He loves sucking on blankets. Doesn't seem to matter what blanket it is - we've had to replace a couple already. He drags it out of his crate in the mornings first thing and likes to have it with him all day. I don't let him take it outside with him and he doesn't seem to mind going out without it but once he's back inside it's straight to the blanket. He will leave it long enough for play sessions, eating, walks, etc. but it's never far from him when we're inside.
(2) Although we have been to 3 sets of obedience classes we are still having a problem with him jumping up on people. He occasionally does this to us but usually it's someone who is visiting. Although he usually listens very well, he gets too excited when there is a knock at the door. We can sometimes get him to sit when someone is at the door but usually this will last about 10 seconds. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

When someone comes over I would try keeping him on a leash. This has worked with my Staffy Bull. As far as the blanket sucking, maybe try a crate pad instead of a blanket.

Thanks, I'll try leashing him when we have visitors. As for the crate pad…I never thought about that. We'll see if that works out.
