The first thing I want to do is thank everyone for their thougths and prayers. It certainly helped to get through Sunday night. Which, by the way, was a really long night. The winds were horrific (is that a word?) on the way to the hospital, the hospital was generator operated, so all of their out patient and stat care patients were at the same ED that we were ... however, all I had to say was chest pain and were were in a room. Janie told you all the good news... no heart problems at all. ::: phew :::
When we got home, we actually thought that we were going to have power. However, even though most of the Southside (our end of town) did have power ~ including the houses on the other side of the street ~ our side of the street was black. I set the alarm on my cell phone and crawled into bed for a 2 hour *nap* before getting up for work.
Monday Butch tried to get an appointment with his cardiologist regarding his super high blood pressure (per the ED doc)and was refused. This is the doctor that has been treating him for his high blood pressure ever since his surgery (he didn't have high blood pressure prior to this). The receptionist refused to give him an appointment ~ told him to see his family doctor regarding this ~ that it wasn't a matter for a cardiologist. Butch has no family doc.. Butch was never sick until his mitral valve repair surgery last year. The snotty receptionist told him that he better find a family doc as they weren't going to be treating his high blood pressure. I now understand (once again) why people sue doctors.
Then Butch got a call from the ED doc (I assume a radiologist) who was calling him on his cell phone on his way home from a long shift and was told that he recommended that Butch get another chest X-ray as something showed up on his right lung (the one that he had the staff infection in and had surgery on) and he needed to get a better x-ray. The ED doc ordered the x-ray to be done bedside and the tech didn't take the leads off, even though Butch questioned that. Now they need a better x-ray to determine if it is actually a *spot* or just shadows from the leads. Butch has an appointment with a new pulmonary doc on Monday so am hoping that he orders the x-ray. Butch tried to call the pulmonary doc's office to see if they wanted to order the x-ray before he got there, but they don't have power either, so the office is closed and the *service* must have been overwhelmed since she had quite an attitude.
Monday evening Scooter (our son) brought his generator over to run our electric chain saw and he cut up the tree that tossed down a few large limbs and then hooked it up to our freezer, our refrigerator and a couple of lights, so we didn't lose much out of our freezers or the fridge, although I did toss anything that I wasn't sure about. So I now know how to run, fill and operator a small generator. (hhmmmm... do I put that on a resume?????)
Then last night we went to the county fair to see Kellie Pickler in concert and when we got home, it was like Christmas..... there were lights on in the houses on our side of the street!!!
I did want you all to know that we are fine, that we would still appreciate prayers for Butch's lung/x-ray/spot and that if I am not around much, I am just overwhelmed right now.
To keep this greyhound related, the dogs did fine although they weren't real excited about going out in the back yard with the generator running(Kota will be telling you all about the *big hyooge skary mean monstir inna bak yard*).
