My Long-Coated GSD (pics)

lalah725 Sep 25, 2008 10:52 PM

Hi,

I'm new to this site so I wanted to introduce myself and my dog Max.

My husband I have had GSDs for 17 yrs. They were all fantastic dogs but Max is my heart dog. I adore the ground he walks on.

He is 4-yrs old and was imported from the vom Godinghofer Weg kennels in Germany. The sire was Sarko di Casa Mary and the dam was Mariella vom Godinghofer Weg.

His "family" is quite accomplished in Schutz but I have chosen not to go that route with Max. We do obedience and agility and he excels at both. I haven't competed with him or done any conformation shows.

We have 3 granddaughters who visit us for 2-3 days every week. Max adores them and they have become very adept handlers. Even the little 6-yr old controls Max as well as I do. He is very responsive to those he loves.

Here are some pics.

Oh wow, he looks so wise! I'm so pleased to hear about that great temperament in a GSD. Sounds like you are exactly on track with him!

Thanks. Yes, Max is very wise yet he is extremely playful. I'd say his only "vice" is that he is intently ball/toy driven. He'll pass up dinner for a chance to play ball. It isn't an issue for me because I love to watch him run. When he's at "full-tilt" he's happy.

Here's a pic of him in "ball mode"

Nice working GSD. Love when they have jobs to do and excel at it as well. Keep up the good work!

With him staying like that in the presence of a ball, that's great! Playful is wonderful for training. Absolutely fantastic.

Max looks awesome! What a great looking GSD! Can't wait to see more pictures of him. It's fairly easy to do here. You have access to a free 10mb photo account by clicking on the tab above that says Photos. Simply register, go to Dogs and then German Shepherd category and upload the photos from your computer. Just follow the instructions and post back with any questions.
